SUMMARY:Power NOT Panic: Defending our Communities from ICE
DESCRIPTION:Every Year\, Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducts mass raids detaining and deporting hundreds of undocumented community members across the country. These raids happen during January/February and June/July targeting people who have had prior deportation orders\, pending or prior criminal cases\, and people who were ordered deported for failure to appear in court. We cannot sit back and wait to react when these mass raids are announced. \nHate Free Zone\, created by frontline-impacted communities of Jackson Heights\, Woodside\, Elmhurst and Corona are putting together a Rapid Response Network where we as impacted community members can learn how to defend our communities from such raids. \nCome and learn how to be a part of this community defense system.\nThe training will be interpreted in: Bangla\, Hindi\, Nepali\, Spanish\, Tagalog\, Tibetan\, & Urdu. \nSee Facebook event for further details.

SUMMARY:Close the Camps & End Corporate Profits from Immigrant Detention
DESCRIPTION:Agencies like Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) rely on the services and technology of private companies like Salesforce and Amazon to carry out their day-to-day operations. These companies profit\, directly and indirectly\, off the detention and deportation of immigrants through multi-million dollar contracts with ICE and CBP. \nActivists and tech workers alike have pushed for Salesforce and Amazon to end their contracts with ICE and CBP\, yet these companies refuse to end their profiteering off constant state-led violence against immigrants. The time has come for people to put a stop to the detention and deportation of immigrants\, and end the money-making that drives these policies. \nJoin us for a march on October 11th to demand an end to Salesforce and Amazon’s profiteering from immigration detention\, closure of the immigrant detention camps and asylum for all. \nSee Facebook event for further details.
